Beyond 2012 - an integrated Design Story

Athlete’s Village, plot N13
A built environment story

“We wanted to provide a wide variety of unit types, sizes and styles in harmony with those across the Village.”

Chris Fay,
Associate

Tell us about the early design brief

The brief was to capture the opportunities that the 2012 Olympics presented and to ensure that the product and amenities are appropriate for families. We wanted to provide a wide variety of unit types, sizes and styles in harmony with those across the Village and “Future proof” the design and specification, given the delay before final occupation.

What inspired your design concept?

The needs of the occupants above all else. We exploited the irregular geometry of the site, breaking down the courtyard typology to ensure that all elevations benefit from sunlight and daylight.
